ABSTRACT
Dental caries still remains one of the biggest health problems worldwide because it affects people of all ages, especially children, in whom it occurs more frequently. Motivated by new challenges and insights, our study is an attempt to determine the socio-economic status of children with primary dentition and its association with dental caries. The study included 74 respondents (35 females and 39 males) aged 4-6 years. To determine the socioeconomic status of the respondents' families and their behavioral habits towards dental and oral health, we used specially structured questionnaires. The distribution of data relating to the socioeconomic status of children with primary teeth, from the experimental group 15 (20.30%) children were of low, 20 (27.00%) were of medium and 8 (10.80%) children had high socio-economic status. In the control group, all 31 (41.90%) children were of middle socioeconomic status. The realization of this research on the association of socioeconomic conditions and dental caries for which we provided respectable results can be used as serious screening factors and seriously participate as an instrument for assessing the risk of caries.
